Nominees Best Metal Performance in the 53rd annual Grammy awards have been announced. The 53rd Annual Grammy Awards will take place in Los Angeles at Staples Center on Sunday, February 13th, 2011, and will air live on the CBS Television Network from 8 – 11:30 PM (ET/PT). There is 5 nominees in the Best Metal Performance, they are:
1. Iron Maiden - El Dorado (UMe)
'El Dorado' is Iron Maiden's first single off the heavy metal icons' forthcoming album 'The Final Frontier,' in stores Aug. 17. The new album will be the 15th for the British legends, who recently celebrated the 30th anniversary of their debut album's release.
Nearly seven minutes long, 'El Dorado' is built on a powerful, melodic bass line and rough-edged, somewhat simplified guitar riffs that hark back to the band's earlier work.
2. Korn - Let The Guilt Go (Roadrunner Records)
This track from their new album, Korn III: Remember Who You Are. This album means a lot to us," Davis told AOL's Noisecreep. "It's a return to our roots. So the fact that the Grammy committee recognizes one of our favorite tracks from that album is an immense honor. And, to be nominated alongside MAIDEN — well, that makes it even more killer."
KORN has now been nominated for seven Grammy Awards since 1997. The band won "Best Short Form Music Video" for "Freak on a Leash" in 2000 and "Best Metal Performance" for "Here to Stay" in 2003.
3. Lamb Of God - In Your Words (Epic)
Lamb Of God is pleased to announce their third Grammy nomination, this time for the track "In Your Words", cut from their 'Hourglass' anthology released on June 1st, 2010. The band has previously received Grammy nominations for “Redneck” off 2006’s Sacrament and “Set To Fail” off 2009’s Wrath.
4. Megadeth - Sudden Death (Roadrunner Records)
Megadeth, lead by singer/guitarist/metal legend Dave Mustaine, who was the recipient of the first-ever “Golden God” award at the inaugural Revolver Golden Gods Awards, have received the ninth nomination of their storied career. Their first nomination came in 1990 and they’re still garnering nods two decades later in a testament to the band’s legacy, permanence, longevity and relevance!
Megadeth have utterly dominated the “Best Metal Performance” category through the years. This year’s nomination is for the song “Sudden Death,” which appears on Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock. The song is being recognized for its hard-hitting, in-your-face intensity and skilled playing, which are the hallmarks of Megadeth’s music.
5. SLAYER - World Painted Blood (Columbia Records/American Records)
A harrowing “end of the world” song, ‘World Painted Blood’, the title track from SLAYER’s most recent release. This is the band’s fifth Grammy nod, having taken home the prize twice, first for ‘Eyes Of The Insane’ in 2006, and then again with ‘Final Six’ in 2007, both in the “Best Metal Performance” category.
